Things to Celebrate!

EYFS/KS1

Our winning class for attendance is RGM and 1JA

KS2

Our winning class for attendance is 3JP

Firstly, I would like to thank those parents that attended our Parents’ Evening. It was extremely well attended and demonstrated the importance of working together to help your child achieve their full potential.  I hope you had chance to look through your child’s books and reflect on the progress they have made, especially in English and Maths.  Please continue to provide opportunities for your children to practise these skills within the home through our E-Collins books, TTRS, Ed Shed and online quizzes!

This week we have focused on anti-bullying week. We have explored what bullying is and where children can go to seek help within school.  The children have explored what they can do in a range of situations, with a focus on ‘Power for Good. During this term our focus is on Geography, children will be exploring their place in our world and their knowledge of key places around the world. We are currently focusing on the following areas:

Year 1 – Countries, Capitals and Seas of the Uk

Year 2 -Equator and Climate

Year 3 -Mountains, Volcanoes and Earthquakes

Year 4 -Rivers

Year 5 – A comparison of life in the Lake District and Amazon

Year 6 – Biomes and Vegetation Belts

All children should have brought home their key questions for this half term and a list of important words which will help them access their learning.  Within KS2 the children are completing a fortnightly quiz to help them remember these key words.  Please help your child by practising these at home.  Over the holidays, we have become aware of an increasing number of children accessing online gaming platforms.  We have spoken to children about the importance of keeping themselves safe and ensuring their privacy settings are secured.  We would urge all parents to check their child’s devices.

Finally, I would like to thank our school community for their support for our annual Children in Need Appeal. We raised £453.50.  We are extremely grateful for your donations which will make a difference in our local community and beyond!  We know this time of year can be difficult for many of our families and would ask you to reach out to one of our pastoral team if you are in need of support at this time.

Wishing you an enjoyable and relaxing weekend

Mrs Claire Silk

IMPORTANT NEWS

Please can we remind parents that there is no access to the Flowery Centre at the end of the school day.  Our drop off zone is restricted to parents, carers and pupils in receipt of a disability badge at this time.  We ask that no cars are left unattended and that one disabled space is left available for non-mobile children.   Following two accidents before half term please can we remind all parents that our car park is restricted to staff members only.  Likewise, please can we ask parents to ensure their child’s safety by encouraging them to follow the pedestrian routes rather than cutting across the car park
