A huge thank you to those families that attended our coffee events, these events focused on the support we have in place to support children’s emotional wellbeing.

Within school we use something called Zones of Regulation to help children manage their emotions. From time to time, all of us (including adults) find it hard to manage strong feelings such as worry, anger, restlessness, fear or tiredness, and this stops us from getting on with our day effectively. Children who feel these emotions often find it hard to learn and concentrate in school. The Zones of Regulation aims to teach children strategies to help them cope with these feelings so they can get back to feeling calm and ready to learn. If you were unable to attend our events and wish to find out more please email admin@floweryfieldschool.org.uk.

This week our enthusiasm for history has continued, with children engaging in a range of activities to help them make sense of the past. Children across school have been exploring chronology, handling artefacts and examining sources.  Our younger pupils are keen to speak to older members of the community who attended Flowery Field or grew up in the local area.  Please speak to Mrs Roche if you can help out.

As part of our student council work, a group of KS2 pupils had the opportunity to visit the House of Commons this week.  Children had the opportunity to meet with Jonothan Reynolds and discuss a number of issues that are important to them. We are extremely proud of these young people for speaking so passionately about our local community.  Over the next few weeks they will be sharing their visit within our assemblies, inspiring others to stand up for what they believe in.

Following requests from parents we have managed to source private music lessons; these can take place either within the school day or after school. All lessons need to be booked and paid for through the following link: https://uktameside.speedadmin.dk/registration#/ We already have pupils learning the piano and guitar. We hope to increase the number of pupils over the next few weeks. If anyone would like to try out these sessions prior to signing up please speak to Mr Barton or Mrs Silk.

We are currently reviewing the allergies we have in school, due to the severe allergies we have in school, nuts are not permitted on site.  All children within KS1 are provided with fruit through the fruit in schools scheme, children in KS2 are able to bring fruit from home.  Other snacks are not permitted.  All children are asked to bring a water bottle into school as they are encouraged to drink water throughout the day.

Finally, we are pleased to announce that we will be having a special Lunch with Froggy event on Thursday.  All children in reception, Y1 and 2 will be offered a lunch to try.  Children in KS2 who normally have sandwiches are also invited to join us too. This will need to be ordered in the app by Monday at a accost of £2.25.  Alternatives will be available on the day,

Wishing you an enjoyable and relaxing weekend

Mrs Claire Silk
