Week – 19.09.25

What a great week in school!

Thank you to all those parents that joined us for our open classroom events.  It was great to see so many parents sharing in their child’s learning. If you missed this event, don’t worry, there will be further events throughout the school year.

Our assemblies this week have focused on all the things that make us special.  Through our key texts we have explored the importance of self- belief and the skills needed to succeed. This week we have witnessed some great examples of Team Work and Ambition through our after school clubs.

During this term our focus is on history, children across school have been delving into the past to find out more about their ancestors.  All children should have brought home their key questions for this half term and a list of important words which will help them access their learning.  Within KS2 the children have been completing a weekly quiz to help them remember these key words.  Please help your child by practising at home.  Special mention to the families that have visited the library and completed their own family projects to support their learning in school.  Children are welcome to bring these into our weekly celebration assemblies which take place on Thursday for KS2 and Friday for KS1.

Our after-school clubs have been well attended, with many children participating in the range of activities on offer.  Due to the level of demand, we have added further clubs across KS1 and 2.  Please check the app for further details.  This term we have extended our music provision to enable children to learn to play the steel pans.  These lessons are currently only available to KS2 and cost £5 an hour.  We hope to set up our own Steel Band to play at school events.  Please speak to the office if you would like your child to attend.

Finally, I would like to remind parents not to park in the Surestart car park or leave cars unattended in the school grounds.  Unfortunately, over the last few weeks we have seen an increase in cars blocking access to both our grounds and the Flowery centre.  It is vital that emergency access is maintained at all times.  Please remember that school has a designated drop off area in a morning to help ease the problems with traffic.  There are lots of friendly faces around to welcome your child and escort them to class.

Wishing you an enjoyable and relaxing weekend

Coffee Afternoon – Meet our Speech and Language and Mental Health Team

These informal sessions will be a great opportunity to meet Holly from the Mental Health Support Team (MHST) and Beth, our Speech and Language Therapist (SALT).

What do these teams do?

Speech and Language Therapy (SALT)
Beth works with children who may need support with speaking clearly, understanding language, listening, or expressing themselves. These skills are essential for learning, building confidence, and forming friendships.

Mental Health Support Team (MHST)
Holly supports children with their emotional wellbeing. This could include help with anxiety, low mood, friendships, and managing emotions. Good mental health is key to helping children feel happy, safe, and ready to learn.
